Original era manufacture. Polished steel blade measures 32.5 inches in length with etched panels on each side, on the obverse the profile of a muzzle loading cannon, and reverse Queen's crown with Victoria's cypher. The blade is very clean, runs straight and true, displaying minor age and wear. Steel three branch guard, with a fish skin grip bound with triple strand wire. Patina finish to the guard, back strap and pommel. Matching patina finish to the steel scabbard which is dent free. Overall the sword is really a sound one, but the exterior is in a desperate need of an intelligent cleaning. The blade is very nice. W.Jones & Co., 236 Regent St. London retailers name on the reverse ricasso.
