Original era manufacture. This is a great old sword which has been around since the early days of the British Empire, including the Crimean War. The pipe-backed blade measures 31 inches in length, running straight and true. The blade has etched panels on each side of the blade; Victoria's cypher on the reverse, and a crossed sword and baton on the other, General & Staff Officers. The blade surface displays evidence of old cleaning, with scattered staining near the point, and areas of cleaned surface corrosion.Decorative brass guard which folds down on one side, with a crossed sword and baton within a wreath, which is surmounted by a Queen's pattern crown. Fish skin wrapped grip with triple wire binding.Brass bodied scabbard with two iron suspension rings, the body showing a dark brass patina finish, overall amazingly near dent free. There are no makers marks or names on the ricasso, overall the sword exhibits honest age and wear.
