Original era manufacture. Lancashire or Yorkshire Rifle Volunteers Major's 1855 pattern Shako.A fine quality example, the black beaver body with sunken pattern leather top and similar peaks and bracing band, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with mount bearing the Garter Proper and enclosing a silver plated rose on a red cloth ground. The plate is original to the shako. Broad silver lace rank band, broad leather chin strap. Buff leather sweatband, white over red woolen ball plume with an other ranks plated plume holder.Very good overall condition.
