Original era manufacture. 32 inch polished steel blade with frosted panels on each side, 20mm width across the base of the blade. Age darkening and light pitting on each side of the ricasso, otherwise the blade is very, very nice. On the reverse of the ricasso the name NATHAN COVENTRY can be seen and on the right side a small brass disc with the word PROVED with a capital letter P flanked by two dots can be seen. According to one of our books this may be C.Webb & Company London, circa 1865. Gilded brass basket hilt and pommel, now showing a vintage brass patina. Fishskin wrapped grip with twisted wire binding. Attached to the guard is an original silver wire knot which has broken and then wired back together. Relatively dent free scabbard(amazing considering its brass)with two suspension rings. Nice vintage brass patina to the surface.
