Original era manufacture. A cool little jar, Terri and I purchased during our first visit to the UK around 1984. These little jars were often found by diggers on the banks of the Thames and old rubbish pits, and are a popular collectible. This example shows chips and dents on the edges but the lid remains attractive with a clear design. Established in 1760, the Burgess company advertised in the first issue of the Times in 1788, and remained in business in it's original warehouse until 1908. Later issues of the lid show a different address. Just one of those crazy things we buy just cuz we like it.
