Original period photography. A crystal clear, 1/4 plate, cased ambrotype image of a seated naval officer, who served the Honorable East India Company, mid 19th century.He is shown wearing a naval frock coat, and white cotton duck trousers. On the table next to him is his naval officers hat clearly displaying the rampant lion emblem of the Honourable East India Company, or informally as John Company, while in his hand he holds a pair of white dress gloves. The image with its original gilded brass matt measures 3.25 x 4.25 inches, original leather covered case and hinge.
