Original era manufacture. Silver Egypt Campaign Medal, undated reverse, with the clasp The Nile 1884-85. Named on the edge to, 1492. Pte. J. Thompson.2/ Essex. R.. Information can be found on both Ancestry.com and Find My Past regarding his service. The Nile 1884-85  clasp was awarded to those troops who participated in the unsuccessful attempt to lift the siege of Khartoum and rescue General "Chinese" Gordon. Good quality replacement ribbon.
