Original era manufacture. Polished steel blade measuring 32.5 inches in length, with etched panels on each side. The blade displays a nice luster to it, running straight and true along its length, with a properly shaped point. There are a few scattered patches of surface corrosion, noting unexpected for a sword of this age.On the obverse ricasso is a small brass disc displaying the word "proved", and on the reverse, the retailers name of Trounce Devenport, a retailer from Plymouth, in business from 1866-1873.Well made brass guard, which folds down on one side, with a lionhead pommel, and fishskin grip bound with triple strand wire.Sound, black leather bodied scabbard with brass fittings, and two suspension rings. The stitching is sound, and the leather surface has scattered areas of wear, but the body is not creased or broken.
