Original era manufacture. A fine example of the medal awarded to Her Majesty's troops who served during the Indian Rebellion 1857-1858.This particular example was awarded to William Leadbeater, 9th Lancers, the regiment earning the nickname "The Delhi Spearmen" during the campaign. This medal is listed in the OMSA database of recorded Indian Mutiny Medals 1857-1859; described as being a three clasp example with silver buckle, and noted as being sold by Floyd-Johnson-Paine auction in August 1999. Additional comments regarding the naming displaying an official correction; the second letter E in Leadbeater being double struck, as can be seen in our photos. From our own collection, priced near our cost, now being sold to fund other purchases for the collection.
