Original era manufacture. Regulation officers tunic of a pattern worn during the Indian Mutiny, until 1868 when a new pattern tunic was adopted. Fine quality scarlet wool tunic with green wool collar and cuffs (now turned to brown in the past 150 years) with regulation cuff and collar lace for a field grade officer. Lieutenant Colonel collar rank consisting of a star and crown (missing the left side star). There are loops on the left upper chest for two medals. The coat exhibits honest age and wear, and has not been modified. Scattered moth damage to the fabric, not unexpected for a uniform of this age. Full complement of Northumberland regimental buttons throughout. The lining is of pale gray silk, with a tan moroccan leather half belt, and fine white wool lining in the skirts.Included with the tunic is a maroon woven silk officers sash, with a red moroccan leather backing and gilt makers name.
