Original era manufacture. A magnificent looking cavalry helmet of black leather, German silver trim with a black horsehair plume. Molded black leather body with black leather front and rear visors. The front visor has a metal reinforced edge, the rear visor did not have one. Large ornate shield with a Queen's pattern crown at the top. German silver cruciform plume base with a removable black horsehair plume. Linked leather backed chinstrap of German silver, which is held in place by two lionhead side bosses. The bosses are similar in design and size but do not match one another exactly. Complete, all leather 8 finger liner, both visors are securely sewn to the body, with the rear visor showing evidence of a re-stitch on the left side. The helmet is quite solid, not crushed or distorted and presents wonderfully. The plume securing post is missing it's internal square nut, so it can be easily removed if desired. Originally established in 1800 and disbanded in 1837, the regiment was reestablished in 1843 until disbanded for a final time in 1871.
