Original era manufacture. Heavy, machined brass case, with a magnetized steel disc, still points North, although a little weak after 100 years. No issues beyond normal age and wear.Very sound brown leather case with shoulder strap, with an inked inscription on one side; "Lieut. F.D. Hoyle, C. Coy, Sherwood Foresters. A small piece of paper inside describes a heroic act by the Lieutenant at Regniecourt, 17th October, 1918.
