Original era manufacture. OK, so I am not quite sure what this guy is, but it has attributes similar to a Royal Artillery officers sword, but without any decorations or embellishments on the blade save for the word PROVED, and that is rather faint.Good quality polished steel blade measures 33 inches in length, bright finish, no nicks, with just a few small spots of corrosion staining. Runs straight and true. Heavy steel basket guard which once sported a chrome finish, that has mostly sloughed away, now a dark patina finish. Chromed brass ferrule, back strap and pommel cap, with a hand-cut check design to the back strap. Triple wire binding to the grip.Leather covered wooden body scabbard with sound stitching. The surface shows scattered scuffing but no missing sections. There is a replacement piece of leather at the throat, with a silvered brass cap opening.Wrapped around the guard is a white buff leather knot, while is shows some age, I do not believe it is contemporary to the sword. After all this, this may be sword made for the Indian Army. Priced to sell, we got a good buy, and so can you.
