Original era manufacture. Clean dark blue blade finish, no issues with the blade, no nicks or corrosion, point remains sharp. Numerous markings on the ricasso, with a makers name of WILKINSON and what appears to be a date of '18.Mix of blue and steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, with original finish wood grips, displaying typical marring and denting from service use. The guard displays a set of intriguing numbers and letters, KM1940 stamped into it's surface. I have no idea of what these stand for or when they were applied. But will state that large amounts of British equipment and weapons fell into German hands in the summer of 1940. A good deal of which were later impressed into German service. I did not notice the numbers when we purchased the bayonet, so have priced it as if they are not there. Black leather bodied scabbard, with a black paint finish to the throat and chape. Well used canvas frog, soiled from service use.
