Original era manufacture. Issue 1899 enlisted cavalry pattern sword, the blade of which has been shortened to a 14 inch length. The guard and leather covered grips have not been altered. Perhaps shortened to serve as a fighting knife in the trenches of WWI, Terri called this a cutlass, who knows. Steel patina finish overall, with evidence of cleaned corrosion pitting on the blade. Sound pressed leather grip panels.
