Original era manufacture. Pressed black wool felt helmet body with darkened metal fittings, with a King's crown on the helmet plate, with the words County Borough of Bolton Police around the inside of the star.Simple brown leather sweatband with cork spacers, stamped into the leather is a date, 1939, with a property stamped similar to the helmet plate. The helmet has been pressed in a bit from storage, but remains quite pliable and should be easy to reform. A small length of the original chinstrap remains intact. Bolton is a Borough northwest of the city of Manchester, that city being heavily bombed during the Blitz. Bolton itself received several bomb strikes in 1941. Size about a 7
