Original era manufacture. An unissued condition example of the 3rd pattern Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife, made famous by the British Commandos during WWII.Ribbed, cast copper grip made without a casting seam, and retaining nearly 100% original finish. Simple, oval shaped, blued steel guard which is marked, ENGLAND.The blade is perfect, retaining all of its original finish, with a very sharp point and no damage to the cutting edges. Original cross-grain polish visible, in short, just very, very nice. The brown leather scabbard retains both of it's horizontal stitch-tabs, with a dark finished brass chape which is riveted to the scabbard body. The brown elastic pommel strap is in place and pliable, with a very small ENGLAND stamped next to it. The scabbard leather is sound, with some light surface staining, and has a musty smell to it from long storage.
