Original period manufacture. A massive grouping of documents, medals, insignia, photographs, detailing the service of a young officer who served in the British RASC during WWII. During his service, he was with the BEF when sent to France early in the war, and was one of the lucky individuals who was evacuated off of the beaches of Dunkirk in June 1940. The highlights of the grouping include a nice portrait photograph of him as a 2nd Lt. in 1939, a five place medal bar, a matching 5 place miniature medal bar, and four place ribbon bar. The certificate for the French awarded Dunkirk medal is named to him, with the medal itself and a miniature as well. The documents include a June 3rd 1940 dated telegram stating that he safely arrived from Dunkirk, and a postwar letter of thanks to him for donating a German flag to the RASC museum. Rank insignia, shoulder flashes and more comprise the remainder of this grouping. It represents a well documented grouping to a man who served in one of the most famous events of WWII, Operation Dynamo. Further service during the war is noted by his Africa Star, with bar for 1st Army.
