Original period manufacture. This great looking contraption appears to be very complete and comes with the following; collapsible tripod with canvas carrying strap, russet leather storage case, tin with spare mirrors, small tool kit in its canvas case, dual signaling mirrors with mounting bracket. All of the components (except the tripod of course) fit into the leather storage box, there are noempty pockets so we will presume the thing is complete. Condition is very good, no damage with a fair amont of original black lacquer remaining on the brassfittings. The US Army experimented with Heliograph systems in the Southwest, especially Arizona and New Mexico.
