Original era manufacture. A two place medal bar consisting of the 1939/45 Star and War Medal.Accompanying the medals is a sizable amount of original documentation regarding the service of Pte JC Birkinshaw 2nd, East Lancashire Rgt in WWII. He was captured in 1940 during the invasion of France, and during captivity he contracted Tuberculosis, being repatriated back to Britainby the Germans in October 1943, succumbing to the disease inFebruary 1944.The lot includes the original shipment box for the medals sent to his family, several newspaper clippings regarding his repatriation and accompanying documents regarding memorial services for him.
