Original era manufacture. A wonderful precision instrument, which formed part of the operational instruments in the iconic Supermarine Spitfire aircraft of WWII.This is a Royal Australian Air Force marked example, complete with its original wooden transport box. Attached to the side of the compass body is a salvage tag stating the compasses recovery from a damaged aircraft, 6-12-45. The compass works properly, with a clear dial and markings.
