Original era manufacture. Nickel alloy helmet with brass trimmed edges, decorative laurel leaf band and multi-piece badge at front. Intact leather backed chinstrap secured by a rose petal boss on each side. The helmet retains it's original leather liner and a dark green moroccan leather lining under the front visor. Bras quatrefoil spike base with a black horse hair plume. Raised in 1661 as the Tangier Horse, the regiment served as part of the Union Brigade during the Battle of Waterloo, where Captain Clark, an officer of the regiment, captured a French Imperial Eagle. During the Crimean War the regiment charged with the Heavy Brigade at Balaclava in 1854. It saw further action at Abu Klea in 1885 during the attempt to rescue Chinese Gordon besieged at Khartoum.
