The frame measures 8x12 inches with contemporary penciled notations on the reverse. Find A Grave provides considerable detail regarding his military service. Born in Brandon, Manitoba in 1897, he entered the service in 1916 as an infantryman, transferring to the RFC to become an aviator and was posted to the 29th Squadron in July 1917. Credited with two kills, he lost his life on the 21st of September 1917 over Ypres while flying a Nieuport Scout, while attacking a three seater German Gotha bomber.
