Original era manufacture. A very attractive enameled maltese cross with crossed swords and a pinback reverse, purchased from the son of a US 101st Abn Veteran who brought it home with him at the end of WWII.Slightly convex in form, with no enamel damage to the obverse, and a toned finish to the silvered metal components. The circular backing plate appears to have come loose at some point in the past, then reattached with glue, as small glue bubbles can be seen on the edges of the plate under magnification.Awarded for bravery by the Kingdom of Bulgaria during WWI, a member of the Central Powers, many German officers received this award as well.
