Mr. Denny was a 25 year old manufacturer before he enlisted on 8/15/1862 as a Sergeant. On 9/19/1862 he mustered into "B" Co. MA 5th Infantry. On 12/11/1863 he was commissioned into "I" Co. MA 2nd Heavy Artillery.He was promoted from Sergeant to 1st Lieut 8/14/1863 (As of Co. I 2nd MA HA) and to Capt 3/13/1865 by Brevet.
