This is a 1/6 plate Ambrotype housed in a half case. It hasn't had a top glass piece in a while and the brass matt sticks to the image. You can take it off without any trouble. There are marks on the Ambrotype where it has been for a very long time.The officer is an Infantry 1st Lt. wearing a 9 button regulation frock coat.
