Item #68595 : Original period manufacture. Two original documents issued to Jacob Stine, a Private in Company I, 21st Missouri Infantry. The first document was issued on February 27th 1864, when he reenlisted as a Veteran Volunteer in the 21st. He joined the 21st in January 1862. The second document was issued to him at Fort Morgan Alabama, April 19th 1866, being his final discharge from the army. During the War, the 21st Missouri saw combat service at the Battle of Shiloh, Siege of Corinth, Tupelo, Nashville, Spanish Fort, suffering the loss of 2 officers, 68 men killed or mortally wounded, with an additional 5 officers and 254 men to disease or accidents. Jacob Stine hailed from Perry Ohio and was 17 years old when he enlisted. The first document is sound, creases are weak, the second is sound throughout, comes with a printed copy of his muster sheet showing his presence at Shiloh.
