Original era manufacture. Blue steel finished 25 inch steel blade with a clipped point, unmarked, with nearly 100% of its original finish remaining. There are no issues with the blade, no nicks, never sharpened.Blue steel basket hilt with black rubber grips secured with brass rivets. The grips are damage free, with some scattered cleaned surface corrosion to the guard. Brown leather scabbard with a darkened brass chape and throat. Surface dryness to the leather scabbard, however the stitching is tight. This pattern weapon served as the basis for the US Navy's M1917 boarding cutlass which are USN marked on the ricasso. Some say this pattern, without the Dutch makers names, were actually used by our Navy as well.
