Original era manufacture. A very clean example of this classic brass handled bayonet made in the pattern of the French 1866 Chassepot rifle bayonet. Numerous Egyptian markings on the guard and ricasso, wear to the brass grip, with the Weyersburg trademark visible on the base of the blade. Comes with its steel-patina finish scabbard. I tried this on our 1866 Chassepot rifle and it does not fit, however it does fit on our Egyptian issued, Tel El-Kebir battlefield recovered Remington Rolling Block, however it will not lock into position. This might simply be due to a distortion of the stud opening on the grip, as the muzzle ring fits properly.
