US Indian War Era Mounted Spurs, Mismatched Pair

Item #68421 : Original period manufacture. This is an interesting pair of original spurs worn by someone, likely a soldier, as a pair back in the day. At first glance they appear to be a set of the US Army 1885 pattern spurs, brass construction with steel rowels. Upon closer inspection we see that one of the spurs is RIA marked with a 1903 date, the other is plain. The tell in this case regarding their long affiliation, is that the spur straps have identical buckles on them, using the same type of thin brown leather holding the buckles in place. The straps are dry and fragile, and any attempt to remove them will likely result in their destruction. In our own collection we have a similar set of mismatched spurs, purchased from the family of a 2nd Cavalry career NCO, served 1877-1905. As with this set, one spur is RIA marked, the other spur is plain. Cool old pair of spurs...
