Original era manufacture. Leather covered glass canteen with a screw cap closure and fitted metal drinking cup. The black leather shoulder strap is a replacement but done some time ago. The German troops carried similar canteens during the 1870-1871 War but Swiss soldiers also had glass canteens so we cannot say for sure which nationality this old canteen hails from. Very sound, no issues beyond the replaced strap, it was in our own collection for a while.
