Original era manufacture. Very German-like in it's presentation, but I am just not 100% sure that it might be a German issue knapsack, other European nations in the pre-WWI era used similar examples. This one is complete with all of the numerous assorted leather straps, both long and short, internal and external, with most of the original fur remaining on the exterior. No visible markings anywhere that I could see, save for two rather faded inkstamps on the interior of the pack on the canvas. There is a horizontal strap on the flap for attaching the messkit, and two smaller straps, set up in a diagonal pattern to attach a handle; perhaps small shovel to. The removable metal attaching clips that hold the shoulder straps to the pack body are missing, however the two lower metal clips which attach to ammunition pouches are present.
