Original era manufacture. German pattern entrenching tool of Swiss issue. Clear markings on the blade, of LC 40. Switzerland received a large amount of German manufactured war material, including Me-109's, splinter camouflage equipment and others. These shovels perhaps were also part of the deal. Telltale brass nail on the bottom of the handle. Really clever, makes it easy in the dark to know which side of the shovel is up. Clean, light use and wear.
