Original era manufacture. Thin, shield-shaped wooden plaque, which measures 9x10.5 inches. Applied to the surface are an assortment of handmade miniature knives, spears and shields attributed to the legendary Moro warriors of the Philippines. Evidently these shields have been produced and sold as souvenirs as far back as the Insurrection in 1900. Years ago we had an example which I feel dated back to that era. Interestingly, these souvenir shields are very popular with the Filipino people as well, being in some cases an indication of how "Filipino" you are, being a "must have" status for your wall. Difficult to date this exactly, but feel safe to say no earlier than WWII, and more likely the Vietnam years. Normal age and wear.
