Original era image. Sepia tone CDV of Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia. During the War of 1870-1871 he commanded the German III Army in the early battles, including Sedan, and later the troops conducting the Siege of Paris. He became Kaiser in 1888 but sadly ruled for only 3 months before dying of throat cancer. He was married to a daughter of Queen Victoria, his eldest son became Kaiser Wilhelm II.
