Original era manufacture. Massive, cuirassier style sword with a 34 inch polished steel blade. Nicely marked on the spine with an 1885 year date which looks to have been made at the Chatellerault arsenal. Brown leather bumper at the base of the blade, heavy brass guard with numerous markings to be seen. Leather covered grip with twisted wire binding. Heavy steel scabbard with a gray finish, no dents, arsenal marks near the throat.
