French, 2nd Empire 1842 Yataghan Bayonet & Scabbard

Original period manufacture. Massive sword bayonet with a brass grip. Yataghan blade measures 22.75 inches in length, unmarked as to maker. The blade is clean, no pitting issues, evidence of an old service sharpening to the edge. S-guard with muzzle ring, stamped 115 or 113 on the obverse, capital letter H on the reverse. Ribbed brass grip with an operable lock button. Dent free steel scabbard with an even steel patina finish. The blade fits lengthwise but is a bit loose in the fit.
