Original era manufacture. British Crimean War medal with a clasp for Sebastopol, unnamed on the edge as was the practice for French recipients who received this medal for service. The ribbon is faded and worn however the sterling silver medal is a very fine example with a nice old dark patina. Purchased at the same time as this medal is an original framed discharge document for one Marre, Jacques Cambour, late of the 61st Regiment of the Line, which served during the Siege of Sebastopol. The document is filled out by hand and displays numerous Imperial stamps. There is water staining to the documents surface but it remains quite readable. A small box in the lower right hand corner is provided to list the soldiers campaigns and wounds. Listed there (in French of course) is " Embarked Marseilles on September 30, 1854, unloaded in Kamiech (the Crimea) on October 13, 1854.) Nice little piece of history regarding the Siege of Sebastopol which lasted from September of 1854 until September of 1855.
