Original era manufacture. A very clean example, with a bright polished steel blade measuring 31 inches in length. On the spine is the name of the Imperial Arsenal at Chatellerault and dated 1853.Single branch brass guard and pommel decorated with laurel leaves with a carved ribbed horn grip. Simple steel scabbard with two carrying rings. This sword provided the pattern for the US m1850 Foot Officers sword and 1850 Staff & Field officers sword.
