Original era manufacture. French ceramic wall plate celebrating the martial feats of Marchal Canrobert during the Crimean War, and Italian Campaign at the Battle of Magenta.The plate measures 8.5 inches across and has a wire plate hanger attached to it.Francois-Certain Canrobert 1809-1895, was a very capable French Army Officer, who served in North Africa, The Crimea and in Italy. During the Franco-Prussian War 1870-71, he commanded the French forces defending Gravelotte St.Privat, and went into captivity along with the remainder of the Army of the Rhine at the surrender of Metz.
