Original era manufacture. An early 19th century manufacture French Infantry Hanger, complete with its original black leather scabbard.The blade displays typical French markings on it's spine, including a date of 181?, so it might date to the 1st Empire. It displays an even steel patina finish, graying from age with some small nicks in the cutting edge from service use. Cast brass grip with proof marks stamped into the guard.The leather bodied scabbard has some creases along its length but is not broken, and the seam stitching is intact.
