Original era manufacture. An early war example of a typical French Infantry officers uniform circa 1914. The set consists of a Mle 1893 Infantry officers tunic, in fine black wool material, stand-up collar, with wire embroidered 63 on each side, cuff rank for a company grade officer, I believe a First Lieutenant. Full complement of 13 large, and 6 small pattern bursting bomb buttons. Full black silk body lining of a quilted design, with two internal pockets and white button-in, collar lining. There are scattered small stains and moth bites but nothing severe, and being that the tunic is made of a black wool the blemishes are difficult to see.Madder red wool 1883 pattern breeches, which are unit marked to the 63rd Regiment, and have an issue date of 1913. There is a soldier's name written inside but is not readable to me. The breeches are in beautiful condition, with no issues.Black wool overseas style hat with red wool piping, black leather sweatband and a black silk lining. There is a gold brocade inverted chevron at the front indicating a company grade officer. Scattered mothing to the body but again, being of dark material they are difficult to see.M1903 brown leather enlisted belt, with a double prong, brass roller buckle. The leather is pliable and the belt measures 40 inches in length, with the end appearing to have been trimmed.Pair of black wool, private purchase spiral puttees, "Spirale Touring-Club" brand, in near new condition. Leather reinforced at the bottoms, with black cotton tie-tapes at the upper end.Lastly, a real photo postcard of a similarly attired French officer of the 63rd regiment. The image is sound with excellent detail, the card itself is a little battered. The 63rd Regiment was commanded by Lt. Colonel Paulmier in August of 1914, and formed part of the 12th Corps. An excellent opportunity to obtain a near complete uniform display of a French Infantry officer for the opening months of WWI.
