Original era manufacture. Polished steel, 1870 dated yataghan style blade made by Chatelleraut. Steel guard and a brass grip. Fairly dent free steel scabbard which has been cleaned, the French style frog loop was removed and and a German pattern elongated stud hook was added. Interesting variant of the classic Chassepot, captured by the Germans in the 1870 war and used by their own troops.
