Original period manufacture. A beautiful condition 1866 pattern Chassepot bayonet made at St. Etienne in 1871. Very bright blade with no corrosion issues, or evidence of sharpening. Bright steel patina finish guard with a scattering of clouding staining on the surface. Damage free brass grip showing a polished finish. Dent free steel scabbard which retains nearly 100% of it's original blue finish, light flecking of surface corrosion. Matching numbers blade to scabbard, 49164.
