Original era manufacture. A polished steel helmet with elaborate brass trim, similar to the cuirassier model but without the marmoset at front. The helmet is complete with its original leather liner, leather lined undersides of the visors, brassscale chinstrap, and black horsehair plume.The steel skull displays and even patina finish, not dented, and very minor surface corrosion. The brass fittings are sound, showing light scattered denting to their surface. One brass comb screw fitting is missing on the left side, front. There is a touch of white garage paint on the ends of the black plume. Normal age and wear overall. 'As with their German counterparts, the French cavalry wore elaborate helmets like this example into combat during the early months of WWI.
