Original period manufacture. A very solid example of the French 1866 pattern sword bayonet for the Chassepot rifle. Produced at Tulle Arsenal in 1872, the blade remains bright with no issues beyond light age and wear. Steel patina finish to the guard, no corrosion issues, with a mellow brass ribbed grip. Blue finish to the steel scabbard, very minor surface denting, near zero actually, non-matching serial numbers blade to scabbard.
