Original era manufacture. Nice quality hat with a maroon velvet covered body, red wool crown with three rows of gold wire rank trim and a thin gold wire brocade chinstrap, with side buttons displaying the French medical department insignia. Leather bound black leather visor, brown leather sweatband with a brown silk interior and gilt Paris makers stamp. No issues with the hat, one minor complaint, is that the back edge has been pushed in from improper storage. This can be straightened by placing the hat on a form.
