Original era manufacture. An officers quality, private purchase hat with a red wool top and light blue cap band, presented is what is referred to as a "Polo" pattern. Enlisted quality cording on the top and sides, with false embroidered silver color regimental numerals on the front. Silver brocade chinstrap secured by two silver color bullet pattern buttons. Bound edge, black painted leather visor, thin black leather sweatband with a black cotton lining. Very minor scattered mothing, most of which is found on the back edge of the hat. A good, solid example overall, as worn by an NCO in a mounted rifle regiment.
