Original era manufacture. This attractive coat formed part of our recent ex-costume company purchase of last summer. The coat is an original, private purchase dolman of an NCO in a Chasseuer a' Cheval regiment, and in it's present condition is an excellent candidate for restoration. The only theatrical modifications appear to be the removal of the gilded brass bullet type buttons, which flanked each side of the coat opening. The correct style closure buttons remain, as does all of the other intricate black frogging and toggles. Worsted red wool NCO lace on the point of each cuff, with a madder red wool faced collar. There are some open seams on the top of each shoulder, in addition to fading from exposure to bright light. This fading can also be seen on the outside edge of the left arm along it's length. The interior of the coat is lined with a black cotton-like material, which has a decorative stitch pattern in the chest area. There are two interior pockets which are sewn on the top of the lining, each of these pockets have come loose on the sides due to the breakdown of the stitching. Leather reinforced sword hanger slit on the left side, the leather portion in poor condition from age. The coat is about a size 40 regular, and is an attractive representative of La Belle 'Epoque
