French WWI Adrian Helmet, African Light Infantry
Item #69071 : Original period manufacture. Standard French Adrian pattern helmet introduced in 1915. Original paint to the helmet surface, and the helmet badge. The paint color shade does not match, and there is a faint mark in the paint on the helmet left by an Infantry bursting bomb emblem behind the current place holder. It is not out of the realm of possibility that a badge was replaced during the war, especially for a smaller unit of men, but the age-old possibility of gilding the lily exists as well. So for our conversation we will leave it as an original badge on an original helmet. Nice leather liner which is mounted to what appears to me to be a gray wool suspension. Spots of paint loss to the helmet from age and service wear, no corrosion issues, no chinstrap.
